World AIDS Day Event at Wat Botum Park – 30 November 2025
On 30 November 2025, AHF, in close collaboration with the National AIDS Authority (NAA) and the National Center for HIV and AIDS, Dermatology and STI (NCHADS), organized the 2025 World AIDS Day event at Wat Botum Park. The program began at 3:00 PM and brought together representatives from NAA, NCHADS, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), NGOs, and community members infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. Participants included people living with HIV, MSM, transgender people, people who use drugs, and entertainment workers, totaling approximately 300 attendees.
The event adopted the theme “Overcoming Disruptions, Transforming the AIDS Response.” Activities included a parade, opening remarks, a concert, a press conference, informational booths, and HIV testing services. The primary objective was to contribute to achieving Cambodia’s HIV and AIDS targets by 2030.

World AIDS Day Ceremony at Chaktomuk Theater – 1 December 2025
On 1 December, the National AIDS Authority (NAA) hosted the national World AIDS Day commemoration at Chaktomuk Theater. The event was attended by representatives from government ministries, police, students, NGOs, and communities affected by HIV and AIDS.
The ceremony aimed to honor those who lost their lives to AIDS, raise public awareness, and reaffirm the Royal Government of Cambodia’s strong commitment to ending the spread of HIV and AIDS. The event was presided over by:

Samdech Moha Bovorthipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister - H.E. Eng Mouly, Senior Minister and Chair of the National AIDS Authority
- Ms. Patricia Ongpin, Country Director, UNAIDS Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia
- Dr. Khem Thann, Member of the HACC Steering Committee
- Mrs. Han Sienghorn, Representative of PLHIV
- Along with other distinguished guests from various ministries
Throughout the campaign, awareness activities highlighted the importance of HIV prevention, treatment, and ongoing community engagement. Despite significant progress, AIDS remains a public health threat requiring sustained support from the Royal Government, NGOs, and all stakeholders.
This year’s global theme, “Overcoming Disruptions, Transforming the AIDS Response,” urges action in response to growing challenges, including declines in international funding, lower awareness among youth, lifestyle changes, and rapid technological shifts.
Key National Achievements
- In 2024, Cambodia achieved 92–100–98 results, approaching the global 95–95–95 targets.
- New HIV infections dropped to 1,200, down from 14,000 in 1997.
- AIDS-related deaths decreased to 1,000, compared to 4,700 in 2003.
- PMTCT coverage increased from 93.2% (2023) to 97.2% (2024).
- Mother-to-child transmission declined from 8.4% (2023) to 6.9% (2024).
- 71,716 people living with HIV were receiving ART at 74 treatment sites (Q3 2025).
- 52 PrEP service sites were operating across 16 provinces and the capital (as of Sept 2025).
