On September 3, 2025, the Health Action Coordinating Committee (HACC), in collaboration with TPO Cambodia, worked with community representatives to strengthen access to psychological support services for the LGBTQI+ community.
Together, we organized four small group therapy sessions — two in Kampong Cham and two in Takeo provinces. Each session brought together five LGBTQI+ community members, who shared openly about their struggles with depression, anxiety, and isolation.
Many participants explained that, without access to professional mental health services, they often rely only on friends or peers for support. While these conversations help, they also leave many feeling alone in their struggles.
“We need more spaces like this — where we can share, listen, and support each other without fear,” participants expressed during the final session.
These gatherings proved the power of safe spaces: not only for sharing stories, but also for building resilience and hope. The LGBTQI+ community deserves accessible, professional, and inclusive mental health services.
Together, we can break the silence, reduce stigma, and create a future where no one faces mental health challenges alone.
This activity is part of the project “Promoting Mental Well-being for the LGBT Community in Cambodia,” funded by the Ambassade de France à Phnom Penh
