Mr. Tim Vora, Executive Director of HACC and Vice-Chair of the Country Coordinating Committee (CCC/CCM) of the GFATM, attended the Big Key Populations (KP) meeting organized by the CCC/CCM Secretariat in Preah Sihanouk province.
The meeting was held at the meeting room of the Department of Education, Youth and Sport in Preah Sihanouk province, with over 50 participants, including Buddhist monks and representatives of KPs such as PLHIV, EW, MSM, TG, PWUD, Young KP, and NGOs.
The aims of the meeting were to provide an updated organizational structure of the CCC/CCM, share grant updates from GFATM, and facilitate overall discussion among participants for an effective and sustainable response to HIV and AIDS, TB, and Malaria.
Key Populations play an important role in reducing HIV, TB, and Malaria infections and in maintaining individuals in care and treatment.
In addition, KPs also play an important role in partnering with all key stakeholders, including policymakers, healthcare service providers, and community members, to collaborate and work together in the response—especially as external funding continues to decline from development partners.
KPs need to strengthen their coordination and networking among members, build partnerships with all key stakeholders, bridge relevant issues and concerns from the community with healthcare service providers, and engage in advocacy based on concrete data regularly collected from the community through the implementation of Community-Led Monitoring and social protection support for vulnerable communities as needed.
