On 16th, November 2023, HACC conducted a field visit to health centers and communes in Stung Treng Province to learn more about sexual reproductive health amongst service providers and receivers.
As reported by health centers, youth usually do not seek SRH services, and they get marriage and have children very early. The early marriage is mostly consent by the youth themselves. Some youth drop out of school to help their parents with farming, especially ethnic minority groups. There are also other issues such as having no tools for customer evaluations and feedback about services provided by health centers.
Joining in the field visit are HACC’s members and representative of women working in entertainment sector. The field visit is a part of NewGen project supported by Plan International. Project’s partner, PSOD, also assists in this field visit. The purpose of the field visit is to learn more about the promotion of sexual and reproductive health by health center, and Commune Committee for Women and Children (CCWC), gather information about the project regarding sexual reproductive health and rights, and identify obstacles to youth and service providers in accessing information related to SRHR/YHFS. Next, the health center and CCWC need to collaborate more with local CSOs and pertinent partners to increase awareness and promote youth health and wellbeing.
