Health Action Coordinating Committee (HACC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport and Department of Education Youth and Sport is organizing a 5-day training (20-24 Dec 2023) on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights to 12 schools, 6 secondary school (grades 7-9) and 6 high school (grades 10-12), in 4 districts (Banteay Srey, Angkor Chum, Angkor Thom and Srey Nhnom). There are 53 teachers and officers participated in the training (Females 21) at the Provincial Training Teacher College. This training is supported by Plan International Cambodia.
The purposes of the training are to provide knowledge, skills and abilities in education, dissemination of knowledge related to education, sexual health, reproductive health and sexual health rights, and to improve and develop their teaching methods based on feedback received from young people in the community to make outreach more effective, to have basic knowledge based on fitness skills and behaviors related to sexual and reproductive health and all rights under the national.
Honorable guests attended at the opening of the training were Mr. Khann Bunpha, Director of the administrative of the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, Mr. Hang Bona, the Programme Unit Manager of Plan International Cambodia, Mr. Lim Sophorn, Networking Coordinator of HACC and Mrs. Kan Sotheary, vice secretariat of School Health Department.
School principals need to work with their teachers to conduct Comprehensive Education of Sexuality course in school one hour a week, emphasized Mr. Khann Bourpha in the opening of the training.
All honorable guests emphasized the importance of training and youth knowledge on Sexual Reproductive Health. Having knowledge and information on Sexual Reproduvtive Health enables and encourages students to seek and access sexual and reproductive service whenever they needed. Their knowledge on SRH also helps them make the right decision and reduces the risk of early child marriage, early pregnancy, as well as drop out of school rate. Moreover, teachers who receive the training this week will be one of the focal people to continue providing the knowledge on SRH to students in the school.
