On July 12, 2024, at the Sokhalay Hotel in Siem Reap, a discussion was held to present and review the results of community feedback on Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for the first semester (January to June) of 2024. This meeting involved both national and sub-national stakeholders and was aimed at improving education, dissemination, and consistent access to PrEP services.
Key findings from the Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) for Siem Reap in the first semester of 2024 indicated the following among the key population:
- 57% are using PrEP.
- 30% stopped using PrEP.
- Side effects (49%).
- 13% never used PrEP.
The primary reasons for discontinuing PrEP were:
- The service location being too far (35%).
- Fear of discrimination (8%).
- Unsuitable service hours (4%).
- Unfriendly service providers (4%).
The Implementation of CLM is a crucial function of the #FoNPAM and #DFoNPAM Forum. It collects feedback from the community of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and Key Populations (KPs) on HIV services and interventions of the HIV programs and related services.
