HACC conducted the 88th Quarterly Members Meeting on 23rd, June 2023 at PP hotel in Phnom Penh both in person and virtual. There were 57 participants (22 females) representing various NGO networks such as MCH/SRH, CD, NCDs, and HSS. The meeting was funded by Plan International Cambodia, GFATM and DNDi. The Purpose of the meeting is to provided opportunity for share and discuss the current situation related to general health.
Topic of the presentations: 1) Overview of Hepatitis Programme by Dr. Samley, CDC of MoH; 2) Hepatitis C Viral (HCV) Initiatives Globally & Simplification of HCV care by DNDi from Malaysia; 3) HPV vaccination campaign by National Immunization Program from Mr Ork Vichit, 4) 16th later by the Lake Clinic by the Lake Clinic by John Morgan; 5) Assessment Result of Promoting Baby Friendly Health Center – BFHC, Pilot Program by WVI; 6) Overview of Health and Nutrition Program, FH Cambodia by Food Hunger Cambodia; 7) Fund raising opportunity with Give2Asia.
Related to Hep C, 257,000 Cambodian are living with Hep C. People infected are mostly above 45 years old. Cambodia has the highest rate of liver cancer, the highest prevalence in the world. Based on study, invasion medical procedures are 64.7%. Globally, Hep B&C are called silent disease, while TB and Malaria has attract a lot of attention. Living with People living with Hep C& B are not aware of the illness. 75% people of living with Hep C has no symptom until the liver died. 3 out of 4 are unaware of their status. Number of death has been increasing to 63% across the globe. As in the region, Hep C&B has infected 140,000 per year. Cambodia is one bigger number in the region. Screening is still very low at 25%, treatment is round 10% focuses in Western Pacific region. WHO is also committed and eliminated in 2030 by acting in the below:
- Reduce incident of viral hepatitis infection by 90%
- Decrease deaths due to viral hepatitis by 65%
- Diagnose 90% of chronic HCV infections
- Treat 80% of eligible persons
