Report on overall HIV in Asia and Pacific at ICAAP11![]() Bangkok, Thailand-ICAAP11: There are over 4.9 million people are living with HIV and AIDS including 1.7 million are women and 210,000 are children. Awareness of HIV status is central to HIV prevention because 25% unaware of infection and only 75% aware of infection. Among MARPs, shown that there is only 42% of female sex workers, 41% of male sex workers, 39% of men who have sex with men and 28% of people who inject drug known there HIV status. HIV suppression stops transmission (HPTN052) if an HIV-infected person adheres to ART, the risk of transmitting the virus is reduced by 96%. Treatment has expanded: 1.25 million people now receiving ART but he pace of scaling up is slowing, 13% increased between 2011 and 2012. Legal and political challenges continue to impede the HIV response in the 38 UN member States in Asia and the Pacific;
Domestic funding has increased to make up for leveling off of international financing. As a whole, around 59% increased by domestic funding in 2012. Among countries contributed high national funding on HIV and AIDS program are Malaysia 97%, China 88%, Thailand 85%, Srey Langka 53%, the Philippine 52%, Indonesia 40%, Pakistan 37%, Mongolia 31%, PNG 24%, Fiji 17%, Vietnam 17%, Cambodia 11%, India 10%, Bangladesh 8%, Lao PDR 7%, Timor-Leste 1%, Nepal1% and Afganistan1%.
