Description

The French Embassy in Cambodia has launched in May 2024 the project “Mental health and freedom of being for the LGBT+ community in Cambodia”, funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Under the umbrella of this project, three smaller projects led by Cambodian civil society organisations (CSOs) will be funded and several events and training sessions will be organized between May 2024 and February 2026.

The French Embassy in Cambodia is looking for a project coordinator that will oversee the project managers in each CSO and assist them, create synergies and connections between the different projects, help with organizing the events (art therapy sessions, trainings…) and work closely with the Embassy with the overall reporting and monitoring of the project.

The project coordinator will ensure the global coherence of the project and will be the go-between between the French Embassy and the project managers of the funded CSOs. They will be under the direct authority of both the « Multilateral cooperation and NGO officer » and the head of the Cooperation and Cultural Action service of the French Embassy.

The project coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports;
  • Scheduling stakeholder meetings;
  • Liaising regularly with the project managers and going on missions to the provinces when necessary;
  • Reporting regularly to the French Embassy about the three projects’ progresses;
  • Helping to organise events;
  • Handling communication about the different activities and events of the projects.

Requirements and skills necessary for the position:

We are looking for an experienced project coordinator that has had at least 2 years of experience in project management and/or coordination and 5 years of total experience in a relevant field (LGBT+ rights, gender equality, NGO project officer etc.).

The project coordinator will have in-depth knowledge and personal commitment about the topic of LGBT+ rights, sexual orientation and gender related issues in Cambodia. They will ideally have experience in working in this field and will know the different stakeholders involved in this issue.

The following skills are also required or an advantage :

  • A fluent level of English is mandatory ;
  • A fluent level of Khmer is mandatory ;
  • Autonomy, organisational and time-management skills are essential to the position ;
  • Knowledge about mental health related issues and terminology is appreciated.

Type of contract

Fixed-term contract, 20 months. Contract until 28 February 2026.

Benefits:

  • Gross monthly salary of around 1700$/month;

  • An office will be made available in Phnom Penh.
